Gym Named in Honor of
Dan Williamson
On December 5, 2009, DCHS basketball fans and friends of the Williamson-Woods families gathered to cheer on the Eagles as the basketball season commenced. Desert Christian hosted Phoenix Horizon Honors and emerged the victors in an exciting girls varsity game which was followed by a special ceremony to officially name the high school gymnasium prior to the boys varsity game tipoff.
Dorothy Williamson, along with daughter Danna Wood, Wayne Wood, and DCHS graduate, Megan Wood, accepted a replica of the permanent plague installed at the gymnasium entrance honoring her late husband, Dan Williamson, who was a long-time supporter of the high school. In his remarks, Headmaster John O'Hair referenced stories of Mr. Williamson's commitment to DCHS, particularly in its formative years and throughout his grandchildren's athletic careers.
Many personal friends, well-wishers, and alumni were on hand for the event which was followed by a reception for the Williamson group held in the upper room. Along with them, Desert Christian is proud and grateful to God for the generosity and enduring legacy of this dedicated family.
