Desert Christian Schools

Dear DCS Parents,

On behalf of Desert Christian Schools’ Board of Trustees, let me begin by saying that it is an honor to partner with all of you in the raising of your children.  At each board meeting we discuss the traits we hope the students’ at DCS will build into their lives.  We pray that each student that attends and graduates from DCS will be equipped to make a difference in the world for Christ. 

The structure chosen by the Board to effectively accomplish this task is known as “Policy Governance.”  Many books have been written on this type of governance model and I could not fully convey every facet in this letter. The Board has spent several years developing and implementing Desert’s own unique ends and executive limitation policies which are contained in the DCS policy manual. 

We have only been able to fully engage this model with the hiring of John O’Hair as our Headmaster.  John’s responsibilities now include oversight of committees and many tasks which were traditionally performed by the Board.  We have ensured that the Headmaster has received all the support that he needs to successfully accomplish his responsibilities. 

As the Board continues to fully implement this governance model we would ask that you partner in prayer with us that the Lord’s will be done at Desert Christian Schools.
